Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Khoj Juntion (“we”, “us”) collects when you use khojjuntion.in, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal wording, because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.
1. What we collect
When you create an account: your name, email address, and phone number if you add one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google — we never see or store your Google password.
When you post a listing, a business or a worker profile: everything you type into that form, including photos, prices, your locality and city. This is published deliberately — it is the point of the listing — so please do not put anything in it you would not want a stranger to read.
When you use our chat: the messages you send, who you sent them to, and which listing the conversation is about. Messages are stored so both people can read the conversation later. Our team does not read private conversations routinely — we look at a conversation only when somebody reports it, and in that case we see a copy of the recent messages taken at the moment the report was made. A photo you send in chat is held back and shown only to you until our team has reviewed it — the other person sees it only after it is approved. A document you send (for example a PDF) is delivered immediately, since it carries none of the risk a photo does.
When you tap WhatsApp on a listing or profile: you leave khojjuntion.in and open a chat on WhatsApp, which is run by Meta, not by us. We record that the click happened (so we can show an advertiser how many enquiries they received), but what you say on WhatsApp is between you, the other person, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy — we have no access to it.
Automatically: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time you visit them. Standard server logs. Where we count advertisement clicks, the IP address is hashed before it is stored — we keep it only long enough to avoid counting the same person twice in an hour, and it cannot be turned back into your address.
What we never collect: we do not take card or bank details on this website, and we never ask for your password by email, phone or chat. Anyone who does is not us.
2. Why we use it
- To show your listing to people searching in your city.
- To let a buyer and a seller talk to each other on the site.
- To tell you when your listing is approved, rejected, or about to expire.
- To review listings before they go live, and to act on reports of abuse.
- To show advertisers how many times their banner was seen and clicked.
- To keep the site working, and to understand which pages people use.
3. What is public
Your listings, business profiles and worker profiles are public, and search engines index them — that is how people find you. Your email address is never shown publicly. A phone number is shown only where you chose to show it. Your private chat messages are never public.
4. Cookies
A cookie is a small file your browser stores. We use them for four things:
- Essential cookies — to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. The site cannot work without these.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, so we can see which pages are used. This tells us about pages, not about you personally.
- Preference cookies — to remember the city you chose
(
kj_location, up to 30 days) and, only if you press "Near me", your approximate location for that browser session (kj_near). - Advertising cookies — see the next section.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential ones you will not be able to stay signed in.
Your location
- City in the header. Your browser may ask whether to share your location.
If you allow it, your browser sends the position to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service only
to find your city name; we keep just the city name in the
kj_locationcookie. If you say no, nothing is shared and you can type your city by hand. - "Near me" on business listings. Location is asked only when you press the
button. It is rounded (about 100 metres), kept in the
kj_nearcookie for your browser session, used only to sort results by distance and show "2.4 km", and is not saved in our database. - You can turn location off at any time in your browser settings, or clear these cookies.
5. Advertising
We show advertisements on this site, and we plan to use Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
- Banners bought directly from us are marked as advertisements and their links carry
rel="sponsored", as search engines require.
6. Who we share with
We do not sell your personal information to anybody. We share it only:
- with the service providers who run the site for us — our web host, Google Analytics and our advertising partners;
- where the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or a threat to somebody's safety.
7. How long we keep it
Classified listings run for 28 days and then stop being shown. Account details and chat history are kept while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account we remove your profile and your listings; messages you sent may remain in the other person's conversation, because they are that person's copy as much as yours.
8. Your choices
- Edit or delete your listings at any time from My Ads.
- Correct your details from My Profile.
- Block anyone in chat — neither of you can message the other afterwards — and undo it from Blocked Users.
- Ask us to delete your account by writing to the address below.
8a. Your rights over your data
Under Indian data protection law, you can ask us to:
- Access — a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — fix anything about you that is wrong or out of date.
- Erase — delete your account and the personal data tied to it, subject to the "How long we keep it" section above (a message you sent may remain in the other person's copy of the conversation, and we may keep what the law requires us to for fraud or safety records).
- Withdraw consent — for anything we process based on your consent rather than a contract or a legal duty, such as marketing messages.
Write to the email in the Contact section below for any of these. We aim to acknowledge every such request within a few working days.
8b. Grievance Officer
As required under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Grievance Officer for Khoj Juntion is:
Name: Pradeep Tomar
Email: support@khojjuntion.in
Address: Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India
You can write to the Grievance Officer about your personal data, or about any content on the site — a listing, a chat message or an attachment, a review — that you believe breaks the law or these policies. We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days, as the Rules require.
9. Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
10. Security, honestly stated
Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. Uploads are restricted and the server refuses to execute anything in the upload folder. That said, no website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise — please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
10a. What we guarantee, and what we do not
Khoj Juntion introduces you to local workers. We do not employ them, supervise them, or carry out the work ourselves. Every job is a direct agreement between you and the worker, and the price, the timing and the quality are settled between the two of you.
Some workers carry a Verified mark. That mark means we have checked the identity details that worker gave us. It is the only guarantee we offer, and it is a guarantee about identity — not about the price, the skill or the outcome of the work.
A worker without the Verified mark has not been checked by us. We have only listed what that worker told us. Please satisfy yourself about any worker before you hire, pay an advance, or let anyone into your home. If something goes wrong, write to our Grievance Officer above — we will act on the listing and the account, but we cannot stand behind work we did not do.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data: support@khojjuntion.in, or use our contact form.
Business details
Indian law requires these details to be visible to every visitor, so here they are.
